Over the years, Chelsea has been found guilty of selling some serious talents present in their ranks. Some of the examples are Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, and Romelu Lukaku. We all know how good these three players are doing at their current clubs.
Mo Salah has developed into one of the best wingers in the game. Kevin De Bryne is the best creative midfielder. In fact, he is into Premier League all-time top 10 assists provider list. Fun fact: He is not even 30 years old right now.
Romelu Lukaku scored a good number of goals in the Premier League for various teams. But, at Inter, he has found his best form. In 24 Serie A games, he has scored 18 goals and assisted 8 times. These stats are surreal!
Everyone will admit that these three players can easily walk into current Chelsea’s first team. There won’t be much debate on this topic.
It seems like one more addition will be made to that list soon. We are talking about the 23-year old, Tammy Abraham, who looks like a talented prospect upfront.
Lescott believes Chelsea will regret their decision
Former Manchester City defender, Joleon Lescott, predicted that Chelsea will surely regret their decision if they let Abraham leave. In 15 starts for Chelsea this season, he has scored seven goals and assisted once. That’s a great return considering that his appearances have mostly come under Frank Lampard’s struggling side.
Lescott said, “I think he [Abraham] has made it known that he’s not convinced he wants to sign a new contract. It’d be slightly naive of Chelsea to think ‘We don’t need Tammy Abraham’. He’s proven that he can score goals.
I’d like to see him stick around, but I don’t see it happen. Do I see him being there long term? I don’t, to be honest, I see him having to go away, and we’ve seen that in the past. I’m sure Chelsea would love to have [Romelu] Lukaku right now, [Kevin de Bruyne], [Mohamed] Salah.”
Thomas Tuchel needs to find ways to incorporate Tammy Abraham. Chelsea currently has three centre-forwards: Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner.
Werner was signed in the latest summer window thus he has to be the number one choice for that spot. But it is unfair to a player like Tammy Abraham to deserves to be in the starting XI for most of the games.
Can Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner play together?
Timo Werner has played at the left-wing during his time in Bundesliga. Thomas Tuchel can bring Tammy at the number nine spot with Werner out in the wing.
Thus, leaving the right-wing spot for other players like Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech. But then, what about Mason Mount who is the best player at Chelsea currently.
Thomas Tuchel has a problem of plenty which is generally considered a good problem. But the issue is that Werner has not found his feet yet in the Premier League. Thus, continuously giving him opportunities instead of Tammy Abraham will surely discourage the English striker.
