Kuldeep Yadav sheds light on the tips received from MS Dhoni in between matches

Kuldeep Yadav opened up on how MS Dhoni’s tips have been crucial in winning matches for the team.

Indian cricket team has been a dominant force across all formats over the last couple of years and the major point to look after has been the consistency shown by the youngsters of the team. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is one of those young sensations of Team India who have been showing their grit and excellence time and again.

Kuldeep Yadav however feels that it is the former captain MS Dhoni’s tips and advice that have been a helping hand for the youngsters. Dhoni’s inputs from behind the stumps have been of great help for the players every now and then. In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Kuldeep spoke about how Dhoni has been infusing confidence in him.

“He carries a lot of experience, he shares things that are really important for youngsters, for me and Chahal, or for that matter, any fast bowler or spinner,” Kuldeep said in an interview with Sportskeeda.

Kuldeep also stated that it is also important not just for him but also his other bowling partners to pay heed to Dhoni’s instructions while he was behind the stumps.

“It is important for any spinner, any bowler for that matter, (to listen to Dhoni) when you have got the best wicketkeeper in the world,” Kuldeep added.

The 24-year-old also expressed the feeling of excitement when playing alongside Dhoni. He mentioned how Dhoni has inspired many on the road to glory and how he had also been assisting Chahal, another spinner of great potential.

“He just gives inputs, small tips, which really help us during games. It’s a lot of fun playing with him and I feel very lucky because I never thought there would come a time when I would be playing alongside Mahi Bhai,” Kuldeep further added.

“He has played such high levels of cricket, and done so much for India. (The tips) Sometimes work, sometimes don’t, but the loyalty remains. He knows everything. Sometimes, you might not know small things about the batsmen, but he does,” Kuldeep concluded.

With India leading the five match series 2-1, the hosts will fight it out at Mohali in the penultimate ODI on Sunday (March 10). Earlier, Australia won the third ODI at Ranchi by 32 runs to register a strong comeback in the series. Indian skipper Virat Kohli nevertheless continued his merry run slamming 41st ODI hundred which went in vain as the hosts were bundled out for 281 in 48.2 overs chasing a mammoth total of 314.


Kuldeep has been a crucial player for India in the limited over cricket. He has bagged eight wickets in three games and is leading the wickets column in the ongoing ODI series against Australia. Kuldeep, so far, has 85 wickets to his name in 42 matches at an outstanding average of 20.64. It will be a delight to watch him play in the ICC World Cup 2019.
