India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah made a sensational comeback in the Trent Bridge Test against England. The pacer came under fire for not taking a wicket in the ICC WTC Final against New Zealand.
Team India surrendered at the hands of the Kiwis in the final. However, the Indians picked up lessons on the go and executed proper plans in the first Test match against England in Nottingham.
Moreover, Bumrah was the standout performer of the game. He picked up four wickets in the first innings. After that, he followed it up with a brilliant fifer in the second innings.
The fast bowler ended the first Test with a nine-wicket haul. Unfortunately, the match ended in a draw due to rain. Team India was given a target of 209 by the hosts.
India managed to score 52 for the loss of 1 wicket on Day 4. While fans were waiting for the thrilling climax on the final day, rains ruined all the fun. Sadly, the match officials had no option other than calling off the day.
The first Test ended on a disappointing note, especially for Team India. The visitors clearly had an upper hand going into the final day. In fact, they were the favourites to take the first lead in the five-match Test series.
Mitchell McClenaghan takes a dig at Jasprit Bumrah
A cricketer trolling the other is just a common thing on social media. New Zealand pace bowler Mitchell McClenaghan took a dig at Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah on the social media platform.
The incident happened after Bumrah came up with a tweet after the Test opener against England at Trent Bridge. India’s top pacer took to his official Twitter handle and wrote: “Still don’t need you.”
He captioned the pics of him from the Test that ended in a draw. Day 5 of the Trent Bridge Test got washed out due to persistent rain without a ball being bowled. Meanwhile, Kiwi pacer, who is quite active on social media came up with a sarcastic remark. He wrote: “Hold up? You don’t run with straight arms???”.
Bumrah is our No.1 bowler: KL Rahul
While addressing the reporters at the post-match press conference, KL Rahul spoke about Bumrah. The Indian opener was asked about Bumrah’s comeback in the Test cricket. Meanwhile, KL Rahul disagreed by adding that, in every aspect and condition, Bumrah proved himself that he is Team India’s number one bowler.
“Sir, I don’t know why you are saying that (Jasprit) Bumrah has made a comeback. Every time, in every game, in every condition, he has proved himself, and he is our number one bowler. We are happy that he is doing what he is (has) been doing since he started playing Test cricket,” said Rahul.
“Wherever he has played, he has been a match-winner for us. We are happy that he has done once again, what he does best,” KL Rahul who top-scored with 84 for India in the first innings of first Test added.
