Juventus closing to win the battle for Arsenal target by placing a £26m offer and a player in the deal. Arsenal could face the next transfer blow by Juventus’ offer for the Italian midfielder, who is having a great run in the ongoing Euro 2020 tournament.
Arsenal didn’t have a good season last term as a whole under Spanish manager Mikel Arteta. Edu and Arteta are keen to build a solid side to compete for the title next season. However, things are not going Arsenal’s way in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal finished at an eighth position just behind London rivals Spurs in the Premier League table. Although, they didn’t have a great start to their league campaign last term under Arteta. However, they did defeat Liverpool in penalties to be crowned as Community Shield winners in the pre-season.
The Spaniard wants to improve his squad depth by bringing in some star players to the Emirates. But, the Gunners could face yet another disappointment in the transfer market for a star player. Italian giants are understood to seal Arsenal’s target by placing offers on the table.
Arsenal are looking to bolster their midfield setup, which lacked consistency last term. Midfielders Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos, and Matteo Guendouzi could be heading for the exit door this summer. Edu needs to sort out the midfield woes by bringing in some potential stars for the future.
One such player on the shortlist for Arsenal was Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli. The 23-year-old midfielder is having a dream tourney with his national side Italy in the ongoing Euro 2020. However, Juventus are getting ready to hijack the star midfielder from a fellow Serie A side.
Juventus’ latest offer for Arsenal Locatelli:
According to Goal, Juventus are looking to hijack Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli by making approach. Arsenal could lose out on their long-time target, who is in terrific form at the moment.
The defensive midfielder is currently focusing on the ongoing Euro 2020 tournament. However, Juventus have now gone a step ahead to place an offer worth £26m as per the report. The Bianconeri are also in plans to add the 19-year-old defender Dragusin to the deal.
This offer could possibly convince both parties involved and Arsenal could face yet another disappointment. The Gunners are in need of a central midfielder for their new campaign, with many outgoing stars.
Locatelli to decide his future after Euro 2020:
Manuel Locatelli is having a good tournament so far in group stages with his national side Italy in Euro 2020. Sassuolo’s midfielder likes to play deep in the midfield but has done an even more good job in the central midfield position. The midfielder has scored two goals already in the tourney for Mancini and looking sharp. But, the player wants to make his decision about his future once the tournament ends.
Locatelli said: “[The transfer rumors are] just talk. I will decide after the European Championship. There’s such an important competition to play in, and I’m only focused on this. I rely on what happens on the pitch, the real things, everything else is just gossip, it’s useless to talk about it.”
“It is normal to have rumors about the transfer market, but I will not let myself be influenced by them. It would be a waste of time to think about that, even though I know that after the Euros will have some decisions to make. I’ll decide my future after the Euros. I talked with the Sassuolo board, we know what we’ve to do in July.”
