Very few clubs in world football have managed to dominate their domestic league like Juventus. However, right now they are in a phase of transition under Andrea Pirlo. They can no longer dominate the league like they used to do earlier.
Inter Milan are the dominant team under Juve’s former manager Antonio Conte. Though the Old Lady still has Cristiano Ronaldo but he is now 36 years old. Thus they are clearly in a phase of transition. Currently, they are trying hard to qualify for the Champions League next season, instead of challenging for the title.
It will take them some time to get out of this phase of transition. In this process, there will new arrivals and some old faces will have to leave Turin. Despite this transition phase they still have a chance of winning a trophy in the Coppa Italia.
Juventus will take on Atalanta in the final next month. This match could also prove to be the final game for many players in a Juve shirt. According to Italian news outfit Corriere Dello Sport, the Bianconeri have put six players on sale.
Juventus to sell six players:
The report has mentioned the name of Federico Bernadeschi, Alex Sandro, Aaron Ramsey, Merih Demiral, Weston McKennie, and Adrien Rabiot. While the Old Lady will also try to sell Mattia De Sciglio to Lyon on a permanent basis. Currently, the former AC Milan fullback is on loan to the Ligue 1 side.
Currently, Douglas Costa is out on loan to Bayern Munich. However, it is unlikely that the Bavarians want him beyond this season. There has been interest in him from Gremio and Andrea Pirlo has no issues in letting him go.
There is also uncertainty over the future of Paulo Dybala. The Argentinian is often linked with a move away from the club. Dybala’s current contract expires in 2022. Manchester United have previously shown interest in him.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future was also up for debate when the Turin giants crashed out of the Round of 16 of the Champions League. However, the Bianconeri director Fabio Patrici has already confirmed that Ronaldo will stay at the club.
12th Man Opinion
Juventus were run in a very successful and sophisticated way. However, now it looks like they are making more erratic decisions. The decision to sack and appoint Pirlo absolutely made no sense, whatsoever.
However, with Pirlo at the helm of things, they should back him up now. Out of all the players mentioned above, it is surprising to see the name of Merih Demiral and Weston McKennie. Both of them are young and talented players and should be given more time. While other players have already been given plenty of chances.
It would be a bad decision to sell these two young players. Though instantly they may not be able to give Juve the best results, in the long term they will be key players. Federico Bernadeschi is no longer the player he used to be. While Alex Sandro is constantly struggling with injuries.
Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey have failed to establish themselves in the first team. Both of them take high salaries. This is because both of them arrived on a free transfer. It will also help Bianconeri’s finances if these two leave the club.
