Juventus are ushering a new era under Massimiliano Allegri. After adventuring with Maurizio Sarri and Andrea Pirlo, then back to Allegri who has proven his credentials with the Bianconeri. In their attempts to revamp the squad, they have now identified a PSG midfielder as a potential target.
Juventus are said to be interested in bringing Leonardo Paredes to the Allianz Stadium. The Argentinian was part of the team that won the Copa America this year. The 27 years old has previously played in Serie A with Roma, Empoli and Chievo as well.
Juventus offer for Paredes
According to Football Italia, the Old Lady will offer the Parisians a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the loan. However, it is unclear how much money Juventus will look to offer PSG in order to sign on a permanent basis.
The Turin giants want to sign the former Roma midfielder as a replacement for Arthur Melo. Since joining Juventus, he has been constantly sidelined due to injuries. He is currently out with a calf injury since February.
Arthur will now again miss the first three months of the new season. Thus, in order to cover up for the former Barcelona midfielder, Juve want to sign Paredes on loan. Both the players are capable of playing a similar role in the midfield.
Will Juventus be able to sign Paredes?
It looks unlikely that PSG will agree to this deal. Though they have signed Georginio Wijnaldum from Liverpool on a free transfer but they will still need the Argentinian this season. Not only this, there is no real profit for PSG in this deal.
Juventus have not offered a loan plus compulsory buy deal. They have only offered a loan deal with an option to buy. This would mean if the midfielder does not perform well, Juve will not sign him. Thus, for the Parisians, it would be better to keep him in Ligue 1 rather than agree to the deal by Old Lady.
Other midfield targets for Juventus
The same report also states that despite pursuing the PSG midfielder, Bianconeri would want to sign Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo. The Italian impressed in the Euro 2020 and now Juve want to sign him this summer.
Sassuolo are asking €40 million for the former 23 years old. Arsenal are also said to be interested in signing the midfielder. According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are said to be leading the race to sign him.
The reputed journalist also revealed that the player himself wants to join the Italian club. He also revealed that the Gunners are willing to pay his price tag but they only want players who are fully convinced to join the club.
12th Man Opinion
This news brings some mixed feelings among the supporters of the Turing giants. They will be happy that the club is being involved in some transfer activity. There has been very less transfer news despite the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri.
However, they would still want to be linked with top players. Paredes is a good player but Juve fans would want some like Marco Verratti at the club rather than the Argentinian.
