The Portuguese, reportedly, is plotting a €190m swap deal with the Parisian club involving the French youngster Kylian Mbappe.
The Manchester United boss is looking to leave no stone unturned in a quest to bring the title back to Old Trafford and Spanish newspaper Don Balon have alleged that Jose Mourinho is keen in bringing Kylian Mbappe to The Theatre of Dreams in a swap deal which sees another Frenchman, Anthony Martial, going the other way.
The Red Devils have been linked to a plethora of attractive names including a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, his teammate Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann, who are now joined by Mbappe. The ex-Monaco wonderkid has enjoyed a fairly decent season at the French capital linking up effectively with Neymar and Cavani while still managing an impressive 21 goals and 11 assists. And the 19-year-old has had Champions League experience, a semifinal surge while at Monaco under Leonardo Jardim’s stewardship.
Anthony Martial, on the other hand, has had a quiet season, sharing left wing duties initially with Marcus Rashford and later with Alexis Sanchez. The French youngster was starved for minutes by Jose Mourinho who expects his wide men to fulfill their quota of the defensive aspect of the game.
This led to Martial being unable to cement a spot in the starting line up and subsequently missing the French plane for the World Cup. The player will look to find a continued starting berth next season even if that means leaving his current employers.
Though the Glaziers might fancy bringing in an attractive and a marketable prospect, the deal seems less likely to go through assuming that Gareth Bale is high on the club’s wishlist. The board have refused to include Martial in other deals and have reportedly offered him a better contract. Also, the fact that PSG might face a transfer ban for breach of FFP rules, although unlikely, doesn’t back this idea.
