Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has paid a special tribute to late NBA icon Kobe Bryant. Tatum honoured the LA Lakers legend with a new tattoo on his leg which reads ’24’.
Kobe Bryant wore the jersey number ’24’ throughout his 20-year sojourn with the Lakers. And Tatum’s tattoo on his left knee is just another way of remembering Bryant.
A number of basketball stars have paid their honours to Kobe Bryant since his passing. The likes of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Danny Green and even Shareef O’Neal got themselves inked to honour Bryant.
Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash in January 2020. He was with eight others in the chopper, none of whom survived. Kobe was also with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna in the helicopter.
Jayson Tatum shows off new ’24’ tattoo in remeberance of Kobe Bryant
Earlier on Monday, Celtics star Jayson Tatum took to Instagram to show off his new tattoo. The 23-year-old was spotted training ahead for the new 2021-22 NBA season.
However, while shooting hoops, netizens were quick to spot Tatum’s new tattoo on his left knee. Tatum’s new tattoo incorporates a black mamba snake into Bryant’s iconic “24.”
Tatum has previously called Kobe his idol and admitted how the late NBA was a role model to many others. The two-time NBA All-Star was also mentored by Kobe in his college days.
Tatum is now back in training with the Celtics after winning a gold medal with the Team USA men’s basketball squad at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He now has four years of NBA experience under his belt, and in the 2020-21 season, he averaged 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

Kobe Bryant passed away in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26, 2020. Present along with Kobe was his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, baseball coach John Altobelli, five other passengers, and the pilot.
Tributes poured in from all over the globe after Kobe’s death. He was 41 years old at the time of his passing. Bryant spent two decades with the Lakers and won a total of five NBA championships.
During his playing days, Bryant was an 18-time NBA All-Star and two-time scoring champion. Following his death, he was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame. Although Kobe has passed away, his legacy remains.
Four-time NBA champion and current Lakers star LeBron James also had a special tribute for Bryant. He tattooed a black mamba snake, with the number 24 on his arm. Below the design, James has the words “Mamba 4 Life” engraved.
LeBron’s fellow teammate Anthony Davis also honoured Bryant after his passing. The 28-year-old got a thigh tattoo of a black mamba encircling Bryant’s own logo.
