Sergio Aguero is in talks with Napoli’s director of football, Cristiano Giuntoli, regarding a possible transfer to Italy.
An Italian outlet AreaNapoli (via Sport Witness) reported remarks by RAI journalist, Ciro Venerato, on the Goal Show regarding Sergio Aguero move to Napoli. Ciro stated Serie A side Napoli has reached out to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and his brother with an intention of making a bid for the striker. Napoli’s director of football Cristiano Giuntoli is involved in talks with Aguero for a potential move to Gli Azzurri.
Napoli has registered their long term interest in the City striker. For several months there are rumors claiming interest of Naples in Sergio Aguero. However, the rumors were completely ruled out by the striker’s agent. He asserted them to untrue.
However, Venerato made alleged claims that the Naples director Giuntoli has this time approached Aguero and his brother instead of his agent. If these apparent claims are true then that would cause disputes between the player and the agent.
On the other hand, the journalist did not make any comments on Aguero’s decision. Neither his opinion regarding the move. Moreover, no such news has come up about the Argentinean willingness to exit the club.
But Agüero does have fond memories of Naples. It was at the San Paolo Stadium that he scored his 178th goal for City on 1 November 2017. The goal made Agüero the record goalscorer in the club’s history.
Aguero’s current contract with Manchester city will expire next summer. But no reports of any offer is reported for the 32-year-old. This must alert City senior officials who would lose the striker on a few transfers next year. Should City fail to agree on a new deal with Argentina international?
Aguero stats since moving to Man City
Agüero was signed from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for a transfer fee of £36million. He strived to become City’s legend with his overwhelming performance and assisting well in every game. Agüero racked 254 goals while providing 72 assists in his 369 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Although Agüero is reaching the twilight years of his career. Yet the 32-year-old has displayed some of the finest performance this season for City. He scored 16 goals and registered three assists in 23 Premier League appearances so far this season.
The Argentina international has also displayed a fine form in the Champions League too. He has notched two goals in just three appearances in all competition. Agüero has bagged 23 goals in all competitions for City in 2019/20. He has an average match rating of 7.15 out of 10 by WhoScored.
Whether City would offer a new contract to Sergio Agüero is something unpredictable. Lately, he has been in good form but next year Agüero would get a year older and City may offload him and sign a new striker.
