Preview: Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals
Rajasthan Royals had a dismal start to their IPL campaign. They were unlucky enough to lose their opening game of the tournament against Punjab Kings by four runs, even after putting up a great show. The IPL 2008 champions will have to build up confidence from a promising start in the last game. But, what came in as a big blow to their camp is the ruling out of Ben Stokes who sustained a left finger injury in the Royals’ first game.
Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, got off to a flying start to their IPL 2021 campaign. They registered a 7-wicket victory over the three-times champions Chennai Super Kings. The IPL 2020 runners-up will be hoping to pick up a win from this game too and strengthen their position in the standings. The Capitals will be again missing the services of their pace duo Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, due to the COVID-related logistical issues.
With both sides having had a fair share of misfortunes heading into this game the field looks level. And it will be interesting to watch out which team will have the upper hand in this match.
The skies will stay clear with zero chances of rain interruptions for the entire duration of the game. The temperature will hover around 30 degrees Celsius.
The pitch at the Wankhede Stadium is a batting-friendly one with an average 1st innings score of 204 runs. The batsmen will be able to play shots on the upside on this ground with relatively shorter boundaries. Wankhede Stadium’s proximity to the Arabian Sea guarantees plenty of swing on offer for the bowlers. With the dew likely to play a part in the latter half of the game, the captain winning the toss should look to bowl first.
Probable Playing XI:
Jos Buttler, Manan Vohra, Sanju Samson (C & WK), Liam Livingstone, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Shivam Dube, Shreyas Gopal, Chris Morris, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya.
Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (C & WK), Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Woakes, Ravichandran Ashwin, Tom Curran, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan.
Head to Head Records: RR vs DC
Sanju Samson: After a sensational performance in the last game the Royals’skipper will be one of the most chalky captaincy choice. Samson mustered a brilliant century (119) off just 63 balls at a strike rate of 188.88.
Prithvi Shaw: Shaw will be playing another IPL 2021 match on his home ground. The 21 y/o right-handed batsman had a great outing in the last game wherein he scored 72 runs. He will be hoping to keep the momentum alive and perform well in this game too.
Liam Livingstone: With his countryman Ben Stokes being ruled out, Livingstone may get a chance to feature in the Playing XI and if he does make sure to pick him. Though placed in the batsmen section, the Englishman is a genuine all-rounder who can help you fetch healthy points from both ends.
Mustafizur Rahman: Rahman had a forgettable game against Punjab Kings as he went wicketless and leaked 45 runs in his quota of four overs. But the Bangladeshi pacer is expected to make a strong comeback and pick atleast one wicket in this game.
TEAM 1 (IF RR BATS FIRST)
TEAM 2 (IF DC BATS FIRST)
Delhi Capitals are expected to win this game.
