Chennai Super Kings had a disastrous campaign in the last season of the Indian Premier League. They finished seventh in the IPL 2020 points table in the United Arab Emirates. The yellow army managed to win just 6 games but lost 8 games.
However, they ensured to back their strengths and bolster the unit in the mini IPL auction in Chennai. CSK posted a whopping total of 188/7 in their first game against Delhi Capitals. Needless to say, they failed to defend the target.
MS Dhoni’s side locked horns with Punjab Kings in their second game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This was MS Dhoni’s 200th appearance in the Indian Premier League. CSK players were quite superb in all aspects of the game.
They restricted PBKS to just 106/7 in 20 overs. Deepak Chahar was the pick of the bowlers as he took 4 wickets to his name. Moreover, he conceded just 13 runs in his quota of 4 overs. More importantly, he bowled a maiden over.
Shahrukh Khan top-scored with 47 for PBKS but his knock alone was not enough. CSK aced the run-chase in 15.4 overs, thanks to Moeen Ali for his attacking style of play. The England all-rounder chipped in with a vital 46 when he was promoted at No.3.
Lungi Ngidi joins Chennai Super Kings camp
In good news for Chennai Super Kings, fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has joined Chennai Super Kings camp after completing quarantine. The South African fast bowler is now available for selection.
He is expected to play against Rajasthan Royals in the next game. The right-arm fast bowler missed the first two games for CSK owing to his quarantine spell after his arrival from South Africa. Proteas were busy in their home assignment against Pakistan.
Ngidi will now be available for team selection in CSK’s next match. Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals on April 19. The match will kick off at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
