IPL 2021: If there is one talented spinner who is constantly overlooked by the Indian selectors and in the IPL, it has to be Kuldeep Yadav, without any second thought. The chinaman bowler has made waves in the sport with his bowling.
He became the first bowler for India to take two hat-tricks in international cricket. His first hat-trick came against West Indies in 2019 while his second hat-trick came against Australia in 2020.
He also took a hat-trick against Scotland in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Kuldeep has shown that he has all the tools and ingredients to bowl good wicket-taking deliveries.
Sadly, he hasn’t been used properly. In fact, he has been in and out of the national setup. As if that wasn’t enough, he has been overlooked by the KKR team management also. KKR first roped him in the IPL 2014 auction.
The chinaman bowler has played 45 games in the IPL wherein he took 40 wickets to his name. Unfortunately, he didn’t get even a single game in the current edition of the IPL.
The second leg of the IPL 2021 will resume in the Gulf nation. Meanwhile, Kuldeep has no idea whether or not he will be a part of the KKR team in the second phase of the IPL.
Kuldeep Yadav laments lack of communication in KKR
If the spinner fails to make the cut in the playing XI, then we might not see him in the Indian cricket team in the future. The spinner made all these revelations while speaking to Akash Chopra on the latter’s YouTube channel.
The 26-year-old reckons communication with an overseas captain Eoin Morgan can become tough at times. “If the coaches have worked with you before and are with you for a prolonged period of time, they understand you better.
But it becomes very difficult when the communication is weak. Sometimes you don’t even know that whether you will be playing or not, or what the team expects from you,” he added in a statement.
“Sometimes you feel that you are deserving to play, can win matches for the team, but you don’t know the reason why you are not playing. The management comes for 2 months with their plans, so that makes it difficult,” he continued.
Kuldeep also highlighted that had it been an Indian captain instead of the Englishman skipper, things would have been different. He said he would have walked up to him and asked the reason behind him not getting game time.
“In the Indian team, they talk to you when you are not selected. But it does not happen in the IPL. I remember that I had spoken to the franchise before the IPL. But in the matches that happened in the middle, nobody gave me an explanation. I was a bit shocked. I felt like there was no trust, like they had no faith in my skill. This happens when the team has many options. KKR now has plenty of spin bowling options,” he said.
