The sudden covid-19 outbreak in the Indian bubble caused panic in the cricket fraternity. Earlier, KKR players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested positive for the coronavirus.
It’s because of this, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore has been postponed. Then again, three members of the Chennai Super Kings contingent tested positive.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and a bus cleaner tested positive for the virus. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings notified BCCI that they won’t play their next game against Rajasthan Royals.
CSK informed the Indian cricket body that they would step out on the field on one condition. Anyone who came in contact with the two persons who tested positive cleared 3 tests over a six day period.
This is as per Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Indian Premier League. Meanwhile, the IPL has been suspended for the time being in this coronavirus outbreak.
The development comes after SRH player tested positive ahead of their upcoming game against Mumbai Indians. The coronavirus surge in the IPL bubble led to the sudden suspension of the competition mid-way.
Amit Mishra and Wriddhiman Saha test positive for coronavirus
Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has been tested positive for COVID-19. Delhi Capitals’ spinner Amit Mishra has also been tested positive. Both teams have isolated themselves as per various reports.
BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla said players’ health is important. He further added that BCCI always keeps safety as the first priority. Meanwhile, BCCI is planning to shift the tournament to Mumbai soon.
