Delhi Capitals are taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 22nd game of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The match is being staged at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Delhi Capitals captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and invited Royal Challengers Bangalore to bat first. Meanwhile, RCB’s opening pair – Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal had a bad day at the office as they registered cheap scores of 12 and 17 respectively.
While the in-form Glenn Maxwell departed for 25 off 20 balls, AB de Villiers carried the responsibility on his shoulders. Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar looked good for his 31 off 22 balls including 2 maximums.
After Patidar departed, RCB were 114/4 and since then AB de Villiers took DC bowling attack to the cleaners with relative ease. The former Proteas cricketer scored his 40th half-century and still kept going.
The right-handed batsman once again proved why he is a consummate surgeon at the crease. With plenty of experience in his resume, AB de Villiers powered RCB to 171/5 in their quota of 20 overs.
RCB’s wicketkeeper-batsman ended up scoring an unbeaten 75 off 42 balls. His innings was laced with 3 boundaries and as many as 5 sixes to his name at a strike rate of 178.57.
Match delayed due to sandstorm
All of a sudden, the players from both teams suffered the wrath of nature. The cricket fraternity witnessed a bad dust storm all of a sudden. The unexpected sandstorm delayed the match for a while.
The storm was so intense, windy and noisy that it blew away the stand covers. Thankfully, players weren’t affected by the dust. They were sitting around by the boundary. The video clip of Narendra Modi Stadium getting hit by a sandstorm spread like wildfire on social media.
