Man United and Arsenal top transfer target is set to be included in a cash plus player deal for Lautaro Martinez to lower the asking price
Lautaro Martinez seems the top priority for Barcelona this summer transfer window. However, the Catalunya outfit has turned down their opportunity to trigger the striker’s release clause.
Barca considers the €111million tag too high. They once agreed to pay the clause before the pandemic but the coronavirus outbreak has hit new economic lows. The only option that remains with Barcelona to sign Martinez is to add a player to lower the price.
Inter Milan would accept the cash plus offer to Barca’s aid. There are many options for the players which can add to the deal. The Blaugrana should bid the sum along with a player that Inter is likely to snap up.
Arturo Vidal was a favorable pick, also Arthur Melo. Inter bid for Vidal last year to rebuild their midfield and subsequently scouted the Brazilian this summer. Barcelona rejected Inter’s advances as per AS. But both Vidal and Arthur are ready to pledge their future to the Blaugrana colors.
This has brought Barcelona to narrow down their choices to include in the transfer bid. Sources say Carles Alena and Junior Firpo may work as a good bait for the proposal. It could see the deal confirmed positively but both are young prospects. Barcelona should not go-ahead to include young potential which can prove useful in the near future.
Firpo has proved his worth and gained enough experience in top tier football with Betis. His consistent performances led Barcelona to buy him in 2019. Carles Alena came up through the ranks of La Masia, Barca’s youth academy.
There is no need for the Catalunya outfit to drive these great potentials out of Camp Nou. The Board realizes the fact that this step will be a great mistake and are ready to give up the injury-prone Umtiti.
Inter to accept only a loan deal for Samuel Umtiti
Barca’s desperation to land Lautaro Martinez saw Samuel Umtiti axed. The French International has been inconsistent in the first team since move in 2016 from Lyon. The arrival of Clement Lenglet and consecutive injuries pushed the defender to the bench. Hence, it is quite evident Barcelona wants to free up a fund for the Argentine forward’s transfer.
According to Metro, PL duo Arsenal and Manchester United are looking to land Umtiti. Manchester United want to pair up the center-back with Harry Maguire. Arsenal can pose a possible threat to lure the defender to North London. Mikel Arteta is working on rebuilding his squad for next season and the World Cup winner can add to the squad.
However, Barcelona understands the Nerazzurri need a defender to fill the boots of the 34-years-old Godin. Thus, the club is planning to submit an offer with cash plus Umtiti in exchange for Lautaro.
But Inter does not want Umtiti on a permanent transfer. The Italian club doubts Umtiti’s fitness issues and henceforth, do not want to move forward with the deal.
