The Road Safety World Series T20 kept the fans at the edge of the seats throughout the tournament. In the end, India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends are the two best teams that made it to the final.
The highly-anticipated clash took place at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. Sri Lanka Legends won the toss and opted to bowl first. Rangana Herath and Sanath Jayasuriya got rid of Virender Sehwag (10) and Subramaniam Badrinath (7).
Farveez Maharoof also produced a good delivery to dismiss India Legends captain Sachin Tendulkar (30). However, the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan steadied the ship as they went about their business.
The duo added an 85-run stand for the fourth wicket. Yuvraj Singh once again played really and brought up his half-century. He ended up scoring 60 off 41 balls including 4 fours and 4 sixes at a strike-rate of 146.34. Kaushalya Weeraratne bowled a brilliant delivery to dismiss Yuvraj Singh in the 19th over.
On the other hand, Yusuf Pathan also batted really well. He scored an unbeaten 62 off 36 balls. The former Indian cricketer smashed as many as 4 fours and 5 sixes at a strike-rate of 172.22. In the end, India Legends posted a colossal total of 181 for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.
Gony hurts Jayasinghe elbow
Sri Lanka Legends were tasked to chase a big total with an asking rate of just more than 9 runs an over. Sanath Jayasuriya and Tillakaratne Dilshan got off to a blistering start to the game. The former Sri Lankan cricketers took the attack to the cleaners by adding a 62-run stand for the opening wicket.
Yusuf Pathan provided the breakthrough by getting rid of the Sri Lanka Legends skipper for 21 runs. After that, Irfan Pathan dismissed Chamara Silva. Meanwhile, Sanath Jayasuriya scored 43 off 35 balls including 5 fours and a six. He was dismissed leg before wicket off Yusuf Pathan’s bowling.
Chinthaka Jayasinghe came out to bat in an attempt to score runs and put the team in front. But he couldn’t strike the balls at a healthy strike-rate. While he was batting on 24 off 20 balls in the 17th over bowled by Manpreet Gony, Jayasinghe picked up a big blow to his elbow.

The incident happened in the fifth ball of the 17th over when Jayasinghe tried to hit a free-hit delivery. Before that, Gony bowled a no-ball. Jayasinghe tried to take advantage of the free-hit. In the process, he tried to hit the ball down the ground.
As it turned out, he hit it straight back to Gony. The bowler picked the ball and fired a return throw right at the left hand of Jayasinghe. The batsman tried to get back to his crease but all of a sudden, he took a blow around his elbow.
Gony immediately puts his hand up in regretful acknowledgment. Meanwhile, India Legends captain Sachin Tendulkar came up to the injured batsman to check if he was alright. The physio attended Jayasinghe and the match was delayed for a while.
India Legends win the final
After taking medication, Jayasinghe scored 40 off 30 balls. In the end, Indian Legends bowlers found a way to halt the opposition’s progress by keeping them silent. Pathan brothers took 2 wickets each as Indian Legends restrict the opposition to 167. India Legends won the final by 14 runs.
