The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League has been suspended for an indefinite time. Due to an increase in coronavirus cases in the IPL bubble, the BCCI decided to postpone the tournament.
The next biggest marquee event is the ICC World Test Championship final. Earlier, India and New Zealand qualified for the final. The two best teams will lock horns with each other on June 18 in Southampton.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the squad for the championship. Unfortunately, the likes of Prithvi Shaw and Hardik Pandya failed to make it to the squad. The national selectors did surprise the fans with their selection.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is the best swing bowler in India didn’t make the cut in the squad. The chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav who has been overlooked by the selectors in all three formats has also been excluded from the squad.
On the other hand, young players like Washington Sundar and Shubman Gill retained their places. Meanwhile, the experienced Hanuma Vihari also retained his spot.
There is also a spot for opener Lokesh Rahul in the squad. He will be included in the squad, subject to fitness clearance. Ajinkya Rahane is the vice-captain while Rishabh Pant is the primary wicketkeeper-batsman.
