French star Anthony Martial came off the bench to score one past Hugo Lloris and accumulate maximum points for Manchester United. The former Monaco star managed to net a solitary goal at the Old Trafford. Though the young Frenchman has been impressive, manager Jose Mourinho has preferred to start with Marcus Rashford. Martial was named United’s player of the month of September, but would more likely want more playing time now.

“Me- I want to play”
After putting in an amazing Supersub performance on Saturday, Martial had a made a statement both on and off the field. When asked if his goal will prompt Mourinho to start his next match, he gave a somewhat positive response. The United number 11 said, “No. Me I want to play,” talking to Sky Sports.
Both of United’s player are fitting in well and Jose Mourinho is finding it really difficult to bench either of Rashford or Martial. Martial himself praised Rashford, who he substituted in the second half.
“I don’t want to be on the bench,” he said.
“Marcus Rashford has been good too and the manager wants to give us a chance,” he added.

Mourinho’s take on Martial
The goal against Spurs was the first Martial managed in October. The goal came more of a relief for Mourinho who was criticized after a goalless draw against Liverpool and a defeat to Huddersfield. Mourinho was impressed with Martial’s performance and said,
“Sometimes he starts the match and his contribution is good but he doesn’t score.
“I don’t understand some reactions when people question ‘are they Red Devils’? The two strikers were up against amazing central defenders. some of the best in Europe.
“Martial scores with a bad shot, but the bad shots can be the most beautiful.
“To play well against a very, very good team feels even better.”

The Martial goal has brought relief for Mourinho but on the same hand has given him another trouble. While United are now comfortably placed second, the Portuguese has to deal with a problem of plenty. Both Rashford and Martial have been very effective this season and Mourinho would no way want either of them to lose their touch. Even though he has no option other than to bench either one of them, let us see if the Special One can accommodate both of them in the starting lineup.
