County cricket has witnessed several memorable incidents on the field. However, one such incident which everyone wouldn’t forget is the heavyweight boxing clash between Stuart Broad and Luke Fletcher. Although the incident happened in 2018, it is still being talked about by fans all over the world.
In what was an accidental situation, English cricketers namely Broad and Fletcher collided against each other. The incident took place during the County Division 1 game between Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire.
Perhaps for the first time in the history of the game, two lanky cricketers engaged in a collision. The video clip of the incident went viral on social media portals. Nottinghamshire teammates were bit busy in taking a single.
When Stuart Broad and Luke Fletcher ran into each other
As it turned out, both the players rammed into each other, thus forcing the medical team physio to spring into action. However, nothing serious had happened for the two players. They resumed the game after taking some treatment.
In addition, the drama once again continued between the pair. England pacer Stuart Broad had to dodge a couple of powerful shots from Luke Fletcher. The veteran England pacer took to his official Twitter handle and wrote: “Don’t mess with Luke Fletcher.”

In reply, Luke Fletcher also had some fun on social media by comparing their clash to a boxing match. “Apart from taking a left hook off @StuartBroad8 it’s been great having him back in the green and gold,” he wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, useful knocks from Broad (38) and Fletcher (27*) assisted Nottinghamshire to post a massive total of 300. On the other hand, Worcestershire couldn’t stand against the pressure of the opposition. They were bundled out for 110 and 149 as Nottinghamshire won by an innings and 41 runs.
New challenge up ahead for England pacer
Stuart Broad has been one of the important players of the England cricket team. The right-arm fast bowler is currently playing the longest format of the game. He is also the 7th bowler to take 500 wickets in red-ball cricket. He accomplished the feat by dismissing Kraigg Brathwaite.
Broad took 517 wickets in 146 games at an impressive bowling average of 27.71. He took 18 five-wicket hauls and 3 ten-wicket hauls.
The veteran pacer is currently part of the England set-up that is involved in the high-profile series against Team India. England players started the Test series with a bang by beating Virat Kohli & Co by 227 runs at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
Team India made a stellar rebound by beating England in the second Test match. Virat Kohli & Co won the second Test by 317 runs and they continued to repeat their winning formula in the third Test match as well. India beat England by 10 wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
Stuart Broad warmed the bench in the first Test match in Chennai. The right-arm fast-medium bowler played the second and third Test match but remained wicketless in both matches. The fourth and final Test match will kick-off at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 4 (Thursday).
