Former English midfielder Paul Merson has stated that Hazard does not intend on finishing his career with Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea is currently sitting fifth in the Premier League and is unable to qualify for the Champions League unless some miracle takes place. The ineligibility of Champions League will mean that it would be a task to keep hold of their superstars in this summer transfer window. With Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois reportedly refusing to extend his contract with Chelsea his national compatriot Eden Hazard is also on the radar of a few top clubs in the continent.
The star winger has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid for quite a few seasons and manager Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of the 27-year-old. Hazard has also been in the frame to replace either of Madrid stars, Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale. Hazard has aided Chelsea to two Premier League titles over six seasons and his impressive performances have attracted interest from the European champions.
Merson Speaks On Hazard’s Future-
Speaking to the Daily Star, the 50 year old English pundit said that he does not see Hazard at the club next season and if he does stay at the club he will never leave, “I don’t think Eden Hazard will be there [next season], If Hazard doesn’t leave Chelsea this summer he’ll be there forever. And I don’t think he wants that.”
Hazard has made over 300 appearances for Chelsea ever since his move to West London from Ligue 1 outfit Lille back in 2012. With Chelsea struggling for any silverware this season and in the foreseeable future, Hazard would not want to extend his deal.
Hazard has been a great player for quite a while, despite Chelsea underperforming this term, Hazard has been one of the standout players. But I feel it’s time for Hazard to take his game to the next level and leave Chelsea.
