Hansi Flick arrival at Bayern Munich wasn’t really celebrated as he was no poster boy. The German was assistant coach to Niko Kovac. The Croatian was sacked mid-season, and Flick was appointed on interim basis. However, he managed to completely transform the Bayern Munich team as they won the treble which included Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and the Champions League.
This year they are on track to successfully defend their Bundesliga title. However, they were stunned by second-tier Bundesliga side Holstein Kielin DFB Pokal. In the Champions League, they recently crashed out to PSG. Thus only the German league title will be their glory this season.
Why is Hansi Flick leaving Bayern Munich?
According to the Daily Mail, the head coach has fallen out with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic. The reason behind their falling out was the transfer dealings of the club. Thiago Alcantara left the club for Liverpool in the summer. The players signed this summer Bouna Sarr, Marc Roca, Choupo-Moting, and Douglas Costa have rarely featured. Choupo-Moting got his chance recently because of Robert Lewandowski’s injury.
The second reason as to why the German was angry was because of the club’s failure to sign a backup striker to Robert Lewandoski. These two factors in turned did affect the club this season. In the Champions League clash against PSG, Robert Lewandowski was thoroughly missed by the Bavarians. Even in the midfield, there was a lack of creativity as Thiago’s absence could be felt in that game. Flick is also against the club’s decision to let go of Jermone Boateng and David Alaba on a free transfer.

I’m absolutely impressed with this team, their quality and their attitude. I’m eternally grateful to the club for the chance they gave me to become head coach here“
Next destination for Hansi Flick
He is widely expected to become the head coach of the German national team. Their current manager Joachim Low has already announced that he will leave the national team after Euros 2021. Flick has previously been an assistant to Low and he was a part of the backroom staff that won the 2014 World Cup. He has spent almost a decade with the Die Mannschaft.
The Bayern Munich manager has insisted that his future is not clear but DFB is an option for him. However, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on his future. The journalist is one of the most reliable sources of football news in Europe and he has said that Flick is set to become the head coach of DFB.
Potential options for Bayern Munich
With the departure of Hansi Flick confirmed, the Bavarians must start looking for a replacement. RB Leipzeg’s Julian Nagelsmann is said to be the favourtie to take over. The young manager has impressed the Bavarians. Currently, it is his team that is seven points behind the German champions. Not only this he also led his team to a Champions League semi-final last year.
The likes of Massimiliano Allegri and Joachim Low have also been mentioned as potential options. However, nothing is certain at this moment. There might be some other names as well that come into the picture at the end of the season.
12th Man Opinion
As for a Bayern Munich fan, it is really sad to see Hansi Flick leave the club. He was expected to stay at the club for a long time. It will be more painful for the fans because he is leaving the club because of internal politics. However, he will be long cherished as a manager in the memories of Bayern Munich fans.
