Hakan Calhanoglu gives verdict on Chelsea and Arsenal transfer rumors

Hakan Calhanoglu has been in excellent form for AC Milan this term. The Turkish footballer has 7 goals and 11 assists to his name so far. The San Siro are really happy with his performance. However, the player will be out of contract in the summer.

AC Milan did propose a new contract for the 27-year-old. However, Hakan feels he deserves an addition of £23,000 to the Milan offers. Hence, negotiations are looking pretty unstable for the Serie A side. If they fail to come to an agreement Hakan Calhanoglu can leave for free.

This has caught the eye of many clubs around Europe. However, Chelsea and Arsenal are the most prominent names in resonance with the playmaker. Both the Premier League sides are keeping a close watch on Turkey International.

Recent reports also hint that Chelsea and Arsenal have made contact with the player’s agent. Juventus are also keen to sign the player, however, a Serie A rule restricts them from contacting the player until he becomes a free agent. Hakan Calhanoglu may consider staying in Italy but if the English clubs can put forth a solid deal. The Turkish playmaker will surely catch a flight to England.

Hakan Calhanoglu brushes of Chelsea rumours

Recently a Turkish news outlet, Fanatik, made reports that the player was considering moving to Chelsea. The paper quoted a while back, “God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season.”. However, Hakan Calhanoglu was fast to brush off the news. The playmaker explains through his Twitter that the news was false. And that he had not made discussion on a Chelsea move to any sources.

However, Sky Sports Italia reports that Chelsea are in touch with Hakan’s agent. Thomas Tuchel is keen to add more firepower to his lineup. And find Hakan Calhanoglu as a valuable player to have at his side. The playmaker is currently valued at £30m by Transfermarkt. With the negotiations between Milan and Hakan at an impasse. Chelsea are hoping to sign him on a free transfer.

However, there will be tight competition from Arsenal. The North London side are going head-to-head against Chelsea to sign Hakan. Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta are planning to sell some deadweights in the summer. So make a place for some fresh additions. Also, with their financial situation, Arsenal are planning to pen down free agents that fit their profile.

Hence, we may see a transfer tug-of-war between Chelsea and Arsenal. But if Juventus solidify their interest in Hakan, things may get troublesome for both the English sides. The final outcome will ultimately depend on what the player decides.

Factors to consider for Hakan Calhanoglu deal

Hakan Calhanoglu will have to consider many factors before making a move. If the player is planning to make a shift to Chelsea, he may find it tough to secure a spot on the squad. The Blues already have Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, and Mason Mount who play as playmakers. This will mean that Hakan Calhanoglu may find it hard to get into Tuchel’s lineup.

Chelsea are not likely to part ways with any of the above three soon. Hence, Calhanoglu may have to consider his game-time before planning a move to Stamford Bridge. Arsenal also has Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe as their playmakers. The Gunners are reportedly keen to extend the stay of Odegaard.

But with Emile Smith Rowe coming in and out of injuries. Mikel Arteta wants to have an additional playmaker. Hence, the Spaniard is hoping to sign Hakan Calhanoglu in the summer. The Turkish footballer may find more game-time at Arsenal in comparison to Chelsea. And can also hope to play a key role in the Arsenal lineup.

Hakan Calhanoglu will demand proper game-time to his suitors. However, Chelsea may not be able to guarantee him that in their current system. Arsenal on the other hand can guarantee him that. However, it’s too early to say anything as of now, Hakan and his agent are considering all their options. And hope to find the best possible destination for the star.
