Jose Mourinho had his fair share of moments in the Premier League now. He has managed Chelsea, Manchester United, and now Tottenham Hotspur. Out of all these spells, one thing has been consistent. After the third season, players often fall out with him. Currently, at Tottenham, he is only in his second season.
However, signs that he has fallen out with players have started to appear. Recently Tottenham Hotspur gave away a late goal to drop two points at Newcastle. In the post-match conference, he was quick to criticize his players. He said “same managers different players”. At Tottenham, he hasn’t got the luxury to spend big. Thus for the time being he is stuck with them. On this note let’s take a look at four managers who could replace him.
Four Options to Replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspurs in summer
1. Leonardo Jardim, next Tottenham manager?
The Portuguese manager is probably one of the most underrated managers in world football. This is perhaps because he hasn’t given a chance to manage top teams. However, he has still done well in his career. Jardim has 20 years of management in football. He is known for developing young players into top players. The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bernando Silva, Fabinho, etc. all developed their game under him.
Not only this he managed to win the Ligue 1 with a young team despite PSG’s presence. Tottenham gave Mauricio Pochettino a chance when he was at Southampton. Jardim has already won trophies something which Pochettino did not achieve. With him, they start afresh, bring in young players and build an exciting squad.
2. Laurent Blanc
The Frenchman is another underrated manager. It was Blanc who managed to get the French national team on track after the 2010 disaster. He has hardly given enough credit for this. Not only this he won the Ligue 1 twice with a relative unknown Bordeaux team.
He played for Barca as a player and that can be seen in how he sets up his team. At PSG, his teams would often play expansive attacking football. He would be a great fit for Tottenham. We have already seen that this team is more suited for attacking football.
Tottenham are still struggling to adapt to Mourinho’s football. With Blanc as a manager, this team will be better able to express themselves. The Frenchman also has the experience of winning trophies.
3. Graham Potter
The Englishman is clearly not as prolific as other names on this list. However, that does not necessarily imply that he can’t do a good job at a top team. He is currently the manager of Brighton.
The Seagulls are 16th on the table. But they have played very excitingly and attacking football. The Englishman hasn’t got the money and resources like other top clubs. Even when they have to play top teams they don’t compromise on style.
The Englishman has the potential to become a very good manager. It is clear that if given a better set of players he can do great. Tottenham can give him a better set of players and money to spend.
4. Julian Nagelsmann linked with Tottenham job:
It is almost impossible to keep Nagelsmann name away from top clubs. The young managerial prodigy has earned a lot of applauds for his work at RB Leipzig. Nagelsmann can be the perfect manager for a long-term project.
Tottenham can provide that project if Mourinho leaves the club. The German also has a good record of developing young players. It was under him that the likes of Timo Werner and Dayot Upmanecano developed their game. Recently he was tipped to replace Mourinho at the club.
