Former Liverpool player reveals which Chelsea star would be great for the Reds

Liverpool started the season in a bright way. However, with only 2 victories in 6 games, it seems Liverpool are struggling. Former Reds player Craig Bellamy reveals Liverpool should sign this Chelsea player to improve their midfield.

Despite having 6 clean sheets, it seems Liverpool are struggling. The Reds are without a win their last four matches. It seems opposition teams know Liverpool’s weakness. In all these 4 games, Jurgen Klopp’s side were poor in midfield. The midfield of Liverpool seems a little weakness. The fact that they lack a creative player was clearly depicted in these 4 games. Former Reds legend Craig Bellamy believes Jurgen Klopp should sign this player.

Former Reds striker Craig Bellamy believes Jurgen Klopp needs a defensive midfielder who is more creative. Bellamy has said Jurgen Klopp need a player like Chelsea’s Jorginho in the middle of the park. Liverpool played out a 0-0 draw with champions City on Sunday. The home team managed only two shots on target throughout the game. Bellamy says that he is a fan of Jordan Henderson but he is sometimes a little too defensive-minded.

Liverpool lack creativity in the midfield

However, he believes that to improve his former team even further, someone like Jorginho would fit the mould for Klopp. Bellamy said on Sky Sports, “They’re solid enough, Liverpool are solid enough, especially with (Virgil) Van Dijk going in there. I’m not sure they need someone higher.”

He further says, “I think they need a defensive midfielder who has got creativity as well because he’s going to get a lot of the ball. Jordan (Henderson) I’m a big fan of his, his intensity but at times he looks to get it too deep, he needs to play the other side of the forwards. I think he’s too keen to go back, too keen to go sideways. The one that stands out straight away is Jorginho from Chelsea. That type of player who is able to create, also to move men out of the way to allow one of the centre-backs to step in. That’s where you can outnumber people, especially the way they play with wingers coming inside and then going wide with the full-backs.” Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli in the summer for a fee of around £57m and has hit the ground running.

Author’s take:

Bellamy may be right. Surely, they are lacking a little pace and creativity. Fabinho is not being used and Chamberlain is out injured, so for Liverpool creativity is lacking. Fabinho doesn’t seem confident and there has been a lot of dependency on Jordan Henderson.
