Former Indian cricketer Ashok Dinda ran through an ordeal on March 30 when he was attacked by unidentified people in Moyna. The alleged attack on the ex-cricketer by miscreants happened prior to the second phase of voting in West Bengal.
The former Indian pacer who returned after the poll campaign was attacked by a group of strangers. The mob surrounded his car near Moyna Bazar. After that, they threw stones on the car.
As it turned out, the mob shattered the windows of the SUV where Dinda picked up injuries on his shoulder in the follow-through. Meanwhile, the BJP launched a scathing attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the unexpected attack.
Dinda’s manager elaborated on the incident in detail after the former cricketer injured during election campaigning in a poll-bound state. Nobody really saw this coming and it is really shocking to know that a former speedster was attacked.
Hundreds of unknown people attacked Dinda’s SUV
The manager said the former Indian fast bowler was returning from a roadshow when his car was targeted around 4:30 pm. Not a few but hundreds of unidentified people attacked the car.
The mob also terrified Ashok Dinda by wielding lathi and rods. The manager further echoed that Dinda was cornered and helpless as there was no way he could escape.
However, Dinda lowered his head during the attack. Unfortunately, he was hit by a brick that broke the front window pane. Meanwhile, the former player has been provided additional security following the alleged attack.
As per BJP sources, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will offer security to the former Indian fast bowler. The manager also highlighted that Ashok Dinda was in severe pain following the shoulder injury.
Ashok Dinda retired from all forms of cricket
Ashok Dinda called it quits from all forms of cricket in early February. He represented the Indian cricket team in ODIs and T20Is. He played for East Zone cricket team, India A.
The 37-year-old has played for 4 teams in the Indian Premier League. He has represented Pune Warriors India, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Dinda took 12 wickets in ODIs, 17 wickets in T20Is. The former speedster has played 116 first-class matches wherein he took as many as 420 wickets to his name. He registered 26 five-wicket hauls to his credit.
The former cricketer has played 147 matches in the truncated version of the game. Overall, he accounted for 151 dismissals at a bowling average of 25.31. He registered his bowling figures of 4/13.
