Despite these discouraging stats, Chelsea does have something to cheer upon. If they reach the FA Cup final, it will be their 15th time in the FA Cup final. Analysis: Chelsea vs Manchester City
This game should be a very good spectacle because of how the teams are set up for the game. So far both managers have shown how they want their teams to play. More than tactics it will be individual performances that will get the win.
Manchester City are likely to start with a false nine. They will try to bring Chelsea players out of position to create spaces to run into. On the other hand, the Blues will try to keep the City players wide on the wing and overload a particular area. By doing this they will try to win the ball and counter-attack.
For Manchester City, they will try to switch the play beating Chelsea’s overload. In case of they are unable to do so and the Blues have the possession Guardiola’s men will not hesitate to do tactics fouls. However, if they are able to do so, the winger receiving the ball will try to run at the Chelsea defence.
Also, it is possible that Chelsea might show more intensity in the game. They played their Champions League game on Tuesday night, while Manchester City played theirs on Wednesday. It might make a difference in the early stages of the game.
