Paris Saint Germain are reportedly close to signing Napoli midfield sensation Sergej Milinkovic Savic which is a massive blow for the Premier League giants.
Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have received a huge transfer setback after learning that Ligue 1 giants PSG are keen on signing Sergej Milinkovic Savic. The Serbian midfielder has been incredible for Napoli this season helping the Partenopei to a 2nd place finish in the Serie A, close to winning the Italian league title against Juventus.
However, his stellar outings with Napoli have drawn interest from the top clubs across Europe and Manchester United were eager to lure him to Old Trafford. But according to French news outlet L’Equipe PSG are now frontrunners to secure the services of Milinkovic Savic and bring him to the Parc Des Princes.
The French champions seem to be moving mountains in Europe when it comes to transfers and they will be at it again by trying to sign one of Serie A’s finest midfielders in Sergej Milinkovic Savic in the summer. The 23-year-old scored a total of 16 goals and notched up six assists this campaign and PSG view Savic as a replacement for the aging Thiago Motta, who is set to retire this summer. The Parisian’s are now steadying their squad for the elusive Champions League trophy next season.
Manchester United needed a midfielder who can play along with ace Frenchman Paul Pogba and with Michael Carrick retiring and Marouane Fellaini set to leave the club, United are running short of quality midfielders. Mourinho is also desperate to win the Premier League title but fell short against local rivals Manchester City Milinkovic Savic would definitely be an upgrade to most of the other midfielders in the continent but with PSG’s deep pockets and power in the transfer market, it’s a massive task for United to compete financially.
I think the only way that Sergej Milinkovic Savic would join Manchester United is if he is afraid of a starting berth at PSG. With so many high quality attacking players, Savic may not get an opportunity to start, but he could do so at Manchester United.
