Chelsea still being linked to Rice but there are more affordable options.
The Blues are on a roll in the transfer market. This has been a very productive market for the club and they have been the most active club. Chelsea was in a good position financially heading into the window.
The support shown by Roman Abramovic for Frank Lampard is sensational. You must have great faith in your manager to back up so many signings in such difficult times.
In his first year, Frank Lampard did a very good job with the squad he had. Many youth players made the breakthrough to the first team. And Chelsea has made an exceptional transformation from an aging team to a young jubilant squad.
There have been talks of Chelsea closing in on a move for Edouard Mendy. The Blues are looking to find a replacement for Kepa. But that’s not all, Chelsea are also looking at West Ham’s Declan Rice.
Although the Hammers are asking a price of 80 million for Rice. Rice was a former Chelsea player, but signing him might just be too much for the Blues. Here are some alternatives the Blues can look at.
1) Wilfred Ndidi
Ndidi played a key role in Leicester’s journey last year. He has been successfully able to fill the hole left by the departure of Ngolo Kante. Ndidi played in almost all games for Leicester last season.
He had 2 goals and 3 assists. But he is at his best defensively. Ndidi has established himself in Brendan Rodgers’s side and is a key part of the core now. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club.
Leicester isn’t much interested in letting him go. But if he would want to leave a figure of £40-50 million should be enough to lure him. Ndidi could follow in Chilwell’s footsteps and make the move to North London.
2) Marcelo Brozovic
Brozovic is one of the more experienced players in the Serie A. He also played a very crucial role in Croatia’s run to the final along with Modric and Kovacic. Brozovic isn’t having the greatest of times at Inter.
The player has off the field issues with Inter and might be looking to leave. Kovacic has a good relationship with Brozovic and also put in a good word for him at Chelsea. According to the Sun, Chelsea declined a swap deal including Eriksen and Brozovic for Kante.
3) Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Milinkovic Savic is becoming a famous name in Serie A. The Lazio star has racked up 160 appearances in Serie A. He is being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past week.
And Chelsea could be his probable destination. Although the Blues will have to pay a figure of £60 million for Savic’s services. If Kante was to leave Milinkovic Savic would be the perfect replacement for him. Savic can not only slot in the defensive role but also as an attacking midfielder and would be a great signing for Chelsea.
