A two-match Test series will be played next month between India and Bangladesh. Bangladesh has not won any Test match against India yet. The first match of the Test series starts from November 14 at the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Indore. The second match is scheduled to be held from November 22 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The possibility of a Day-Night Test Match is on the rounds.
Will there be a Day-Night Test Match?
A match in the two-match series between India and Bangladesh can be a day-night Test. Eden Gardens in Kolkata may be the venue to host the possible Day-Night Test Match. According to the report of The Indian Express, both of them will discuss this issue.
The new chairman of the Indian Cricket Control Board, Sourav Ganguly, has been a big supporter of the Day-Night Test. CAB conducted the first Day-Night Test Match in India. At that time, Sourav Ganguly was the president of the CAB.
Sourav Ganguly speaks about the possibility.
After becoming the President of BCCI, when reporters asked him about this, he said
“Day-night Test is the way forward. Every country has to play day-night Test—that’s a long-term future for Test cricket. They [India] are a good side, they will win day-night Test matches also,” Ganguly also said recently. “There is no difference in day-night Test matches and day Tests. It’s just a different ball. They are such class players, they can win,” Ganguly had said.
The BCCI has conducted several Day-Night Test Matches before. Many of the Duleep Trophy matches were also Day-Night. The bowlers objected to the prospect of playing with the SG Pink ball.
For this reason, Day Test Matches with the Red Ball became the norm in the 2019/20 Duleep Trophy was played If there is a Pink Ball Test match between India and Bangladesh, then the ball can be a big issue for this.
