Real Madrid legend Luis Figo has warned Cristiano Ronaldo of how much the club has given him over the past nine years.
After the Champions League final victory over Liverpool, there was a lot of speculation over Ronaldo’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu when the Portuguese winger put his position at the club in jeopardy. Ronaldo hinted at a move away from the Spanish capital in a shocking post-match interview.
However, one former Galactico has issued a stern statement regarding the 33-year-old’s decision making if he chooses to leave Madrid. Former Portuguese captain and midfielder Luis Figo is hopeful that Ronaldo would continue playing with the Los Blancos.
Figo On Ronaldo-
After the rumors sparked that Ronaldo would have played his last game for Madrid, Figo decided to step in and offer some much-needed advice for the Portuguese captain. Speaking to news outlet Laureus, 45 year old legend spoke highly of Real Madrid, “Many times, what you want or what you are going to be doesn’t depend only on you but on other factors that so many don’t realize, But Ronaldo is at the best club in the world and I think that he should finish his career here.”
Figo went on to add that what Ronaldo may owe a lot to Madrid for making him the player that he is today at the grandest stage of them all, “Logically for him, it has been shown that what he has gained and did in Madrid wouldn’t happen everywhere. Madrid has also given him a lot in terms of prestige and that has also helped him to win individually.”
Ronaldo joined La Liga giants Real Madrid from English side Manchester United back in 2009 for a then world record fee of £80 million.
Figo may be right by weighing in his opinion on what Ronaldo should do as a professional. But this decision depends entirely on Ronaldo and what he plans to move into at this next part of his career. Hopefully, he will stay in Madrid because he has been immense for them once again this term.
