Napoli chief, Aurelio de Laurentiis has confirmed that Jorginho’s move to Manchester City is just a few days from completion
Napoli’s President has become all too familiar to Premier League fans during this transfer window owing to some serious interest in two of his employees from English heavyweights. While Chelsea are more concerned with acquiring the services of Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri, Man City are looking to get Jorginho out of Italy. The Brazil-born Italy international has been on Guardiola’s radar since April.
City are closer than ever to securing their man after having a bid €50 million rejected earlier in the summer. Now, de Laurentiis has confirmed that the Sky Blues are moving closer to his evaluation, giving a positive update on the chances of this move going through. He told Sun Sport:
“I think the deal can be done in the next few days.”
“Everything is possible as we have a great relationship with Manchester City and their people but we must negotiate. We are still not in agreement over the price for the player, but we’ll be near to the conclusion as they made an effort in the last few days.”

With his comments, the Napoli chief made it clear that a deal was on the verge of completion, player’s price is yet to be agreed upon.
Jorginho made has made 133 appearances for the Serie A club since his arrival from Hellas Verona in 2014. The 26-year-old has made his name as a pass master and was the metronome of Maurizio Sarri’s incredible Napoli side. Guardiola sees him as a perfect match for his current midfield with his prowess in the No.6 role compared by few.
With Jorginho’s signing all but confirmed, Manchester City have ensured that their transfer window has gotten off to a brilliant start. He was Pep Guardiola’s priority target all along and with Mahrez’s deal in the pipeline as well, City are looking to get their business done nice and early.
