India vs Sri Lanka: India has already won the series, as they won the first two matches of the three-match ODI series. The team lead by Shikhar Dhawan played brilliantly in the first two matches under new coach Rahul Dravid. For the third match, the Indian team made few changes in the team, to give new players some chance to show their talent.
Spinner all-rounder Gowtham replaced Krunal Pandya. Navdeep Saini and Sakariya replaced the pace duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar. Sanju Samson is playing in place of Ishan Kishan as a wicketkeeper. And finally, Rahul Chahar and Nitish Rana are replacing Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
With five players making their maiden appearances in the same match, the Indian team has equaled their own record of having the most number of debuts in a single ODI.
India batsman tripped by Sri Lanka bowling in 3rd match
Prithvi Shaw, Sanju Samson, and Suryakumar Yadav were batsmen who made runs for the Indian team. But the rest of the squad didn’t perform well. The Indian team got all-out in 43.1 overs as they only made a decent total of 226. Manish Pandey, Nitish Rana, and Hardik Pandya couldn’t take the advantage to show their quality and gain lost form.
For Sri Lanka, Akila Dananjaya and Praveen Jayawickrama were picks of the bowlers as they picked 3 wickets each. Dushmantha Chameera also picked two wickets in the match. The Sri Lankan bowlers did a phenomenal job in the 3rd ODI match.
Sri Lanka is chasing a modest today of 226. Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka have ensured Sri Lanka had a perfect start of the innings. The raw and inexperienced Indian seamers were not able to trouble the Sri Lankan batsman. But young Krishnappa Gowtham struck in his maiden overtaking the wicket of Minod Bhanuka.
Bhanuka Rajapaksha and Avishka Fernando have steadied the Sri Lankan ship. They are clear-cut favorites to win the match. Chetan Sakariya has bagged his maiden ODI wicket through the wicket of Bhanuka Rajapaksha and has followed that up with a bizarre delivery to dismiss Dhananjaya de Silva.
