Chelsea and Manchester United target on his way to Italian heavyweights!

The Premier League giants have received a big blow this early in the transfer market as Radja Nainggolan could remain in Italy

The 30-year-old is known for controversial off-field antics which has forced Roma’s hand into putting the midfielder up for sale. Sporting Director Monchi is reportedly fed up of the player’s unprofessional beheviour. Manager Eusebio de Francesco has no qualms about letting him go as well. This news comes despite the fact that Nainggolan made 42 appearances for the Giallarossi last season, scoring 6 times combined with 11 assists.

Chelsea and Manchester United have registered their interest in the Belgian previously. His comments on English conditions, however, would not have encouraged them one bit. Admitting to being aware of the Blues interest, Nainggolan said:

“Chelsea? Yes that was something. It wasn’t done but they were interested in me.”

“I like English football, I love to watch the English games too, but I’m almost 30 now.”

“Starting over again? It’s difficult to even think about that. And I hate the rain. We were in Liverpool two days and it didn’t stop raining. It was cold too. You see the difference to here [Italy]?”

Chinese Super League clubs are now in for his signatures as well. However, Inter are the frontrunners for Nainggloan’s signatures according to Gazzetta dello Sport. But the clubs remain still a fair distance away from each other’s evaluation of the player.

Nainggolan caused a huge stir in football after retiring from national duty. He was snubbed by Roberto Martinez for the World Cup in Russia saying that the 30-year-old was not the type of player he wanted in his squad.

Author’s Take

Nainggolan remains a controversial off-field figure, his on-field contribution however is undeniably essential to Roma. His all-round abilities, the bite brings he to the midfield would be perfect for the Premier League.
