Chelsea defender Marc Guehi is likely to make an exit from Stamford Bridge this summer. As Crystal Palace are closing in on sealing a deal for Guehi. The Evening Standard reports that Guehi has already done his medicals at Crystal Palace. And is likely to pen down a five-year contract with the South London side.

Many identify Marc Guehi as a player with a bright future due to his understanding of the game. The 21-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since his youth days. And has been advancing through the ranks at Chelsea’s academy. After which, Guehi went on loan to Swansea City last season.

The youngster was able to be of great help to the Championship side. Helping them reach the Championship play-off finals, which they lost to Brentford. However, Guehi was impressive last term and made 40 apps for Swansea during his loan spell there. This has caught the eye of Crystal Palace and hence their interest in the youngster.

The Eagles are looking to make some major changes to their side. With the arrival of Patrick Vieira as their new manager, they hope to aim big next term. After registering their interest in the youngster, Chelsea also showed their interest in letting the player leave for a sum of £20m.

Crystal Palace planning a complete rework

The Eagles are aware of their squad’s situation lately. Crystal Palace has a list of players that are above the age of 30 and are hoping to lower the average age of their squad. The arrival of Patrick Vieira as their new manager was the first step to revolutionising their club.

The former Arsenal midfielder is planning on making some major changes at Palace soon. The club has given a ‘green light’ to his decisions as well. One such move is the signing of Marc Guehi from Chelsea. Besides this, Crystal Palace have also sealed the signing of goalkeeper Remi Matthews, playmakers Michael Olise and Jacob Montes.

The south London outfit have also offered contract extensions to Joel Ward and Gary Cahill. The duo, alongside the arrival of Marc Guehi, will provide more depth in defence for Crystal Palace. They were weak at the back last term, conceding some unnecessary goals.

Patrick Vieira will be able to boost the squad’s quality with these twerks. Reports hint that Vierra is keen on adding another defender as well and has his eyes on Connor Gallagher. We might see the Eagles put on a great show on the pitch in the upcoming season with an upgraded squad.

Chelsea are keen to raise more funds to bring in some fresh players this summer. The Blues were able to lift the UCL trophy under the management of Thomas Tuchel. However, they are hoping to lift the Premier League title as well this season.

Hence, Thomas Tuchel is focusing on adding some players to further strengthen his squad. As a result, Chelsea have been doing some pretty good sales so far. Which includes the sale of Fikayo Tomori by AC Milan for £25m by activating his release clause.

Now Marc Guehi is also ready to depart from Stamford Bridge for a sum of £20m. However, Chelsea do have included a sell-on clause to match any future sale of the player. With these sales, Chelsea are able to raise money to invest in their squad.

Tuchel is keen to add a centre-forward to add competition for Timo Werner. The Blues did show interest in a list of available options. However, they are yet to make any solid moves. They may also try to sign an experienced defender as Thiago Silva turns 37 this year. Tuchel will have to fill the void that may follow Thiago’s departure.
