Chelsea star planning to running down his contract and join La Liga giants

Chelsea at this moment is playing quality football. However there are many Chelsea players whose contracts needs to be extended. According to a recent report, this Blues star is planning to run down his contract and join La Liga giants

Chelsea are enjoying the Sarri-ball. At the moment the Blues are joint leaders of the Premier League alongside Liverpool and Manchester City. However off the field, the club has issues. Lack of goal scoring threat and players’s contract is one big void that F.A champions needs to fill. According to recent report, this Blues star is planning to not extend his contract and join this La Liga team.

According to Marca, Belgium winger, Eden Hazard plans to run down his contract and join European Champions Real Madrid. Hazard spoke out about his future at the weekend, admitting he was torn between staying at Stamford Bridge and joining Real. Madrid were keen to sign Hazard last summer. But his transfer was sidelined due to Thibaut Courtois’ determination to leave Stamford Bridge. Hazard is currently tied to Stamford Bridge until 2020. He knows the summer of 2019 is important.

If he decides to not agree a new deal, Maurizzio Sarri and co will have to chose whether to sell him or lose him on a free transfer the following year. Hazard does not intend to force Chelsea into a corner in the same way Courtois did last summer. The Belgium star is confident he can manufacture the move by declining any contract extensions.

Hazard wants to leave the club on good terms and has no interest in signing for any club other than Real. Chelsea are on a brilliant run in the Premier League with an in-form Hazard. Hazard has bagged the most goals in this season’s Premier League.  Maurizio Sarri thinks Hazard is capable of scoring 40 goals this term, and Chelsea fans are hoping their club can launch a title tilt if Hazard continue to shine in attack.

Author’s take:

This might be Hazard’s plan. The Belgium knows Chelsea will be desperate to sign him. However, he has publicly said many times that he wants to play at Real Madrid. So he might be structuring the move. For Chelsea they might sell him or give him a bumper contract that would make him Premier League’s most earning player.
