Chelsea star makes big claim about manager Sarri

Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri have started their Premier League campaign perfectly as the Blues have garnered 12 points from four fixtures, and one of his players has come out in support.

Chelsea endured a difficult campaign in 2017-18 and their dismal performance only helped them finish 5th in the league table, which made them unqualified to participate in the UEFA Champions League. Coach Antonio Conte, who helped win the coveted trophy in 2016-17. had a strained relationship with numerous of Chelsea’s key players.

Brazilian defender David Luiz who was crucial to Chelsea’s success when they last won the Premier League, had fallen out with Antonio Conte last season. Luiz struggled with injuries and Conte had other plans on mind. This season, it seems like David Luiz would have a strong role in Sarri’s plans.

He has started in all four games Chelsea have played so far this season in the English Premier League. Speaking about Sarri, Luiz said, “First of all he’s a great person, great as a human,” the Brazil international said of Sarri in an interview with Chelsea magazine.

“I think his philosophy to live life is already great because he wants to enjoy every day, he wants to be happy and he wanted to take this opportunity to start one more chapter in his life.”

“I think that is one of the most important things in life; when you love to do something, when you’re happy. So, I believe in this philosophy, and then after that he is a great coach. He wants to play with the ball, he wants to play with intensity, to work on the details and to give us all the information he can about the next game and the opponent.”

“Every week he tries to make the best plan possible for the exact game and this is great because he is working in the best way for the team, for the collective,” said Luiz admitting that he believes in Sarri’s philosophies and tactics.

Luiz and Chelsea next take on promoted Cardiff City this Saturday, hoping to keep up their perfect start.

Author’s Take

Since Sarri took over the charges from Antonio Conte, Chelsea have started to play possession-based football. They have been successful in implementing it so far and have won all of their 4 fixtures so far. David Luiz looks set to become one of the regulars for Chelsea this season.
