New January signing Olivier Giroud is wishing to be the good luck for Chelsea in the chance to qualify for the Champions League.
Having arrived at Stamford Bridge from local London rivals Arsenal for a fee of €17 million Giroud has proved to be a great buy in his limited time at the West London outfit so far. Although he hasn’t scored goals galore for Chelsea, Giroud has always managed to suit the style of play and add a different form of dynamism in attack for the Blues.
The 31-year-old Giroud has already netted thrice but his impact has been more impressive for Chelsea. His hold up play and involving other teammates into the game is what makes Giroud such a clever centre-forward. The Frenchman scored a header in a victory over Liverpool on Sunday to help Chelsea inch two points closer to fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, hoping to pounce on any slip-ups from the sides ahead of them.
Giroud’s goal in the FA Cup against Southampton in the semi-final also booked the Blues’ spot in the final of the competition in order to win some silverware this campaign.
Giroud Hopes To Be the Lucky Charm-
Speaking to news outlet Goal, Giroud said he wants to be the man who qualifies Chelsea for the Champions League with his lucky influence on matches, “I hope I can be the lucky charm for the Champions League race in the final sprint”
The big striker also added that Chelsea is unable to control the results but will try their best to make sure that a top 4 spot is achievable, “We don’t have this situation in our hands, but I have experience about these kinds of an end of season situations. We need to give everything and wait for the other results. I’m confident because if we play with that kind of mentality we can have nice things.”
Giroud has always been a dangerous centre-forward and a threat aerially but the French forward is proving his worth for Chelsea as they suit his style of play. If the divine beliefs allow Chelsea to go through to the top 4, why not consider it a lucky charm.
