Thomas Tuchel right now is focusing on having a strong finish to the season for the Blues. A top 4 finish along with hopes of progressing in the Champions Leagues is enough incentive to keep the players focused. How Chelsea finish will have a huge impact on any transfer plans they have.
Thomas Tuchel will have to reorganize the squad which Lampard had developed. There are frankly a lot of similar players competing for the same first-team roles which is why it is possible that the manager may decide to relieve some of them of their duties.
The club is linked with many players as there is an expectancy of another big window for Chelsea. However, this time out the nature of the deals might differ. The club has a lot of players they can offer in swap deals for their targets. A striker and defensive improvements are on the agenda for the Blues.
Apparently, Chelsea have now joined the race for Sevilla starlet Jules Kounde. Manchester United and Real Madrid too are impressed with the centre-back’s performances and are taking an interest in signing the 22-year-old.
At this point in time, there are many clubs looking at young centre-backs for their squad. The objective to sign someone whom you could see playing for your club 5-6 years down the line and Jules Kounde certainly ticks that box.
The player is a regular for Sevilla’s side and is used to first-team football. Sevilla are at the 4th spot just securing Champions League qualification and Kounde’s emergence is one of the reasons why. The Frenchman’s performances have earned him interest from some of the top clubs in the land.
Sevilla’s Jules Kounde a person of interest for the Chelsea:
Jules Kounde is one of the key pillars in a sturdy Sevilla defense. The Frenchman made the move to join the Spanish outfit in 2019. This season has been his breakthrough season as he has 41 apperances to his name for the club.
He has good aerial prowess and has a tally of 4 goals in the season. Pretty good numbers for a young centre-back. He slots in on either side of the defensive pairing for Sevilla and has good composure on the ball. The player certainly has great potential and can emerge as one of the top defenders in the game.
According to reports from The Chelsea Chronicle the Blues are preparing a swap deal for Kounde’s services. The list of players available includes Tammy Abraham, Kepa, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Michy Batshuyai, and even Hakim Ziyech.
Sevilla will stick to the €80million (£69.3m) release clause applicable for Jules. Chelsea also have a top striker on their shopping list because of which a direct purchase for Jules Kounde will be difficult to execute. Hence the club will look to try an alternative approach.
Kepa and Abraham will leave due to a lack of game time. Ziyech too hasn’t been able to impress since his arrival in the Premier League whereas Batshuyai and Bakayoko have been on loan spells for quite some time now. These are pretty good options for Sevilla to choose from should they consider Chelsea’s deal.
However, Sevilla do have a reputation of being tough negotiators when their price tags aren’t being met. Also, the club values their player deeply and if they were to let go of him it would have to be a pretty good deal from Chelsea’s side.
