The Blues are reportedly preparing a move to sign Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old right back has been absolutely incredible for the Partenopei this season and almost won the Scudetto with Napoli this season. Hysaj has taken complete control of the right-hand side for Napoli in defense and attack but is also capable of playing on the left-hand side of the pitch.
With Chelsea rather struggling in the Premier League, a transfer window filled with arrivals could be on the cards. The Blues need to revamp their wing-back roles as Victor Moses and Davide Zappacosta have come under the firing line due to horrendous outings and inconsistency this season.
Chelsea is unlikely to assure a Champions League berth this season and has identified Hysaj as an upgrade to strengthen their wing-back roles. The Albanian is extremely quick and has no issues tracking back or when out of position. Hysaj is also able to handle one on one situation’s admirably and loves bombing forward to join the attack.
According to Italian news outlet TMW, the young defender wants a move away from the Stadio San Paolo this summer because he wants to win more titles in his career. Hysaj is also refusing to sign a contract extension with the club hinting at a possible change of club and leave Napoli.
Chelsea has been on red alert ever since figuring out that Hysaj is stalling contract extension talks. This has prompted Chelsea to prepare a massive bid of £40 million for the Albanian star, who has caught the eye of other European suitors as well. Reports claim that the former Premier League champions will be launching their bid soon enough when the transfer window opens up.
Hysaj has been brilliant for Napoli but if he is not willing to sign contract extensions then the Italian outfit has a huge problem on their hands. Hysaj could do really well in the Premier League and has the opportunity to win more trophies with Chelsea, so he should decide a move away from the Serie A club.
