Chelsea’s new manager could be announced as early as next week with Maurizio Sarri’s appointment all set to bring an end to the entire managerial saga
Roman Abramovich has made up his mind that Sarri will be the next manager after analysing a number of candidates. The Italian was replaced as Napoli boss by Carlo Ancelotti but Chelsea will still need to activate Sarri’s release clause worth around 9 million to acquire his services.
The former Empoli manager has been locked in tight battle with Luiz Enrique and the likes of Laurent Blanc and Slavis Jokanovic to be the next Chelsea manager. He was the early frontrunner but Abramovich’s unwillingness to pay his buyout clause meant that the deal hit an unnecessary roadblock. Now, though, as per Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, an official announcement is all that’s left.

The report also adds that Conte’s situation is yet to be resolved with the former Juve boss still contracted to Chelsea till the end of the 2018-19 season.
The 59-year-old will turn to his trusted lieutenants as he plans to begin his Chelsea career. According to reports in Italy, Gonzalo Higuain, Piotr Zielinski, Elseid Hysaj and Kalidou Koulibaly are all on his radar. This clearly points to the fact that he is not satisfied with the current squad.

Chelsea fans will be looking forward to this entire managerial saga finally coming to an end. And with this situation resolved, the head honchos at Stamford Bridge could finally focus their efforts on player recruitment with the Blues’ squad clearly lacking in several departments.
After recent reports that the club could be set for a change of ownership, Chelsea fans were fearing the worst. However, Sarri’s appointment will come as a sigh of relief. Fingers crossed that he is able to replicate his Napoli side’s style of play at Stamford Bridge as well.
