According to SportMediaSet, The Blues have already signed up Juventus central defender Daniele Rugani today.
Chelsea is prepared to look forward to the new season with manager Antonio Conte and the club are now ready to bring in new players for next season’s Premier League campaign. One major issue Chelsea had during last season was their leaky defense which conceded too many goals in comparison to their title-winning season. Therefore the West London club is set to improve their back line in order to compete this season and have already begun the remedy.
There were doubts about Conte’s future at the club after the Italian could not guarantee Champions League football for next season. Chelsea had a rather underwhelming campaign which led to the 48-year-old’s future coming into jeopardy. Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri was close to taking over at Chelsea but with Conte returning to the English capital for preseason training, Chelsea is looking to open their account for the summer transfer window.
Rugani To Chelsea-
News from Italy states that Chelsea has agreed on a deal with Juventus for the transfer of Daniele Rugani. The 23-year-old has been recruited by the Stamford Bridge outfit in a bid that is reported to be around €40 million with Juventus allowing Rugani to leave Turin.
Rugani emerged from Juve’s youth system which will make it slightly difficult for the young defender to leave his boyhood club. Although Chelsea cannot guarantee him Champions League football, there is more hope for a regular starting berth at Stamford Bridge. Juventus also spent €100 million to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid and will be looking to recoup some of that transfer fee with the sale of Rugani.
Italian defenders usually have an aura about them when it comes to shielding a goal. Rugani is still relatively young but can establish himself as one of the Blues greats if he can adapt to English football as a long-term prospect for the club.
