Chelsea to battle with Man City for young English prodigy

Both the sides are yet to face each other in the Premier League but it seems they are already battling for the services of this young prodigy.

If there’s one club who look to upset Manchester City or give them a tough fight for the Premier League then it has to be Chelsea. The F.A Champions are already getting the tag of dark horses for the Premier League title. They are yet to face each other in Premier League but it seems they are already battling for this young prodigy.

Maurizio Sarri is ready to clash with Manchester City over Sunderland starlet Bali Mumba. Manchester City have already lost young prodigy Jaden Sancho and are keen to lure Bali Mumba. The Englishman is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the lower leagues. He has been a standout performer in the youth ranks and has already been promoted to Sunderland’s first team.

Mumba already signed his first professional contract but his performances have caught the eye of Premier League sides. In the summer, the Premier League champions were the front-runners for the signature of the 17-year-old but it seems Chelsea are leading the race. According to reports in English media, Chelsea are ready to splash the cash to land Mumba. Pep Guardiola’s side were in pole position for the England youth cap. They were willing to pay around £2.5 million for him. But it seems Chelsea will leapfrog them.

The Blues are ready to match City’s £2.5m budget. Sunderland face a huge uphill battle keeping their prized asset. They are in dire need of promotion. Mumba might fancy trying his luck in west London given the Blues’ impressive resurgence under new boss Maurizio Sarri. It seems Mumba is happy at Sunderland but it tough to resist offers coming from Premier League’s best two sides this season.

Author’s take:

Sunderland have produced young prodigies before. The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have snatched them and Bumba is another young prodigy. However, the question is where will he land. Manchester City have lost Jaden Sancho to Borussia Dortmund and Ibrahim Diaz’s future also looks uncertain. It’s a sign that City is not giving youngsters a chance and that resist Mumba from joining.
