Charlie Adam reckons Tierney is ready for a bigger team than Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has seen probably one of the worst turnarounds in one season. The Gunners are going through a very rough patch as they find themselves at the 10th position in the league table.

Things didn’t exactly work out as Arteta had planned. The Spaniard since his arrival has promoted the younger talents in the club. He was hoping that a mix of young blood and experience would do the trick for him.

Under Mikel Arteta’s reign, many young players have broken through the first-team ranks. The likes of Tierney and Bukayo Saka have stepped up in a big way and established their place as a starter for the Gunners.

Ever since Sead Kolasinac’s departure Kieran Tierney is the one who is handling the left-back responsibility for Arsenal. The youngster had been given a chance with the first team last season and he held on to it dearly.

Adam on Tierney' future
Kierney Tierney goon enough for Madrid or Manchester City reckons Charlie Adam.

Last season Tierney had 25 appearances for Arsenal in which he had 1 goal and 4 assists to his name. There weren’t any strong options for Arteta but Tierney did well to cement his position.

He has been in great form this season too and Arsenal fans are of the opinion that he can develop as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. Former Premier League midfielder Charlie Adam believes his value to be around $50 million.

Charlie Adam believes the Tierney could play for the likes of Madrid and Manchester City:

Tierney injured for Arsenal
Injuries could probably be the one hindrance in the development of Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish international is enjoying his best season with Arsenal even after struggling with injuries. He has 33 club appearances to his name with 2 goals and 4 assists. The youngster is doing well both offensively and defensively.

Charlie Adam believes that Tierney could easily be a top player in the league. Would it surprise me if a Real Madrid, a Man City or any of the clubs in the top echelons come in for him in the summer?’ he said, as reported by Metro

‘I think he’s ready now. He’s 23, he signed for Arsenal injured and was out for a spell with groin and shoulders problems.’But he’s come back and has matured into a top player. I believe he can go to the next level again. You’re starting at £50m too.’

However, this is the one issue with Tierney which young players often face. The player has seen an injury-stricken season and it’s about to get worse for him. As per the latest reports, Tierney has suffered a rather serious ligament injury.

The left-back is expected to out for 6 weeks due to ligament damage. It’s pouring bad news for Arsenal. Tierney’s absence will mean that Mikel Arteta will now have to make due with Cedric on the left-hand side.

This will be a major blow for the club as he was one of their more regular players. Mikel Arteta will have to put all his bets on the Europa League now and Tierney’s absence will be a cause of concern for him.
