With the 2021-22 football season underway, the UEFA Champions League is now just around the corner. In an all English final last season, Chelsea got the better of Man City to clinch their second European Cup.
The Blues and Thomas Tuchel will now be looking to defend their crown. However, they will face some stiff competition from some of Europe’s elite teams in this campaign.

UEFA Champions League 2021-22 Group Stage Draw: When and where is it?
The UCL group stage draw will determine which clubs will face each other in the opening stage of the competition, potentially shaping the trajectory of the tournament as a whole. The draw for the group stage of the 2021-22 UCL season has been scheduled to be held on Thursday, August 26th in Istanbul, Turkey.
The UCL draw will take place at 5:00 PM BST (9:30 PM IST). The 32 teams will be divided into groups of four to begin the group stages.
Teams qualified for 2021-22 Champions League
So far, 26 teams have qualified for the group stage automatically. There will be six more European teams progressing via the play-offs.
The qualified teams will be divided into four pots for the draw. Pot 1 contains the title holders, the Europa League winners and the champions of the top six national leagues based on UEFA country coefficients.
The remaining three pots are populated according to a team’s UEFA club coefficient. Here’s a look at all the teams in the hat for the Champions League from various European countries.
Spain: Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla, Villarreal
England: Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea

Each team in a group will face the other teams from the same bracket twice (home and away). Therefore, there will be a total of six matchdays for each team in the group. The top two teams from each group qualify for the next round.
The Champions League 2020-21 group stage games will begin with matches on Tuesday, September 14 and Wednesday, September 15. The final group stage games will be played on Tuesday, December 7 and Wednesday, December 8.
