Germany and RB Leipzig star striker Timo Werner has tipped Naby Keita ‘to become world class’ at Liverpool and has shown desire to follow his team mate’s footsteps.
RB Leipzig ace Timo Werner has backed his former teammate Naby Keita’s talent and has tipped him ‘to become world class’at Anfield. He has also shown a desire to follow the Guinean’s footsteps. Naby Keita is set to join the Reds officially on 1st July after making £48 million from RB Leipzig last summer. Timo Werner and Many Keita were fantastic throughout the 2016-17 season and the duo was the driving force behind Leipzig’s 2nd place finish in Bundesliga.
Admitting he may need to leave Leipzig, the German said, “I want to be honest. Many Keita didn’t become a world-class player with us, but he could possibly become one now at Liverpool. I’m not world class yet. For me, [Robert] Lewandowski, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann are world-class winners. To become a world-class player I probably need to play for an even better team at the club level. You have to play in the big teams and then play big games like the final or semi-final of the Champions League.”
Timo Werner has become successful to find the net for 21 times in 45 appearances helping his to finish 6th in Bundesliga and to reach Europa League quarter-final. The 22-year-old was continuously linked with the Reds in the past. Despite being just 22, Werner has now completed five seasons in senior football in the Bundesliga and with his impressive display, he has earned a call-up for the national team in 2017.
Naby Keita has been very effective and creative player throughout his spell in Bundesliga. Along with Keita, Timo Werner is also considered as one of the best young talents of Bundesliga. Although it is very unlikely, Timo Werner will be an ideal acquisition for the Reds in many ways.
He will surely bring Liverpool’s attack to next level and it will be very exciting to see the duo getting reunited and playing for the Premier League side.
