Manchester United have been targetting this youngster but he seems to have slipped through their hands.
The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of Justin Kluivert and were reportedly keen to sign him. His father Patrick Kluivert had advised him to stay in the Eredivisie with Ajax but he seems to have ignored that. Going against the wishes of his father, junior Kluivert has opted to join AS Roma.
United were hoping to sign the 19-year-old winger, but Roma moved swiftly to secure Justin’s services in a deal worth £15.85m. Earlier Justin’s father had hoped his son would ditch any offers to continue his development at childhood club Ajax, but he has other plans. The prodigious winger signed for Roma today, putting an end to United’s prospects.
United target Justin Kluivert joins AS Roma
Justin arrived in Italy where he was greeted by 500 Roma fans at the airport. Roma announced his arrival on their twitter account soon afterward. He will undergo a medical after which he will be officially unveiled as a Roma player. The youngster starred for Ajax in the Dutch league last term, contributing 10 goals and five assists.

Going against his father’s wishes he will line up for the Italian club which will be a big setback for United. Jose Mourinho was known to be a keen admirer of Justin. However, the Portuguese won’t be able to coach the youngster. Not in the near future at least.
A shrewd signing from Roma’s perspective. Kluivert had a plethora of admirers, United naturally was among them. However, I personally believe he is better off in Italy, where he can continue his development. The likes of Martial and Rashford have struggled for minutes at the Old Trafford, hence, Justin seems to have made the logical choice.
