Chelsea were consistently linked with Crystal Palace’s iconic talisman Wilfried Zaha and the 25-year-old has made a big claim over a move to Stamford Bridge.
Wilfried Zaha has been a subject of interest in the English Transfer Window as the host of the Premier League heavyweights showed a serious interest to acquire the signature of the winger.
The Ivory Coast international’s performances last season helped the Eagles overcome the worst start in Premier League history and became an integral man in the club’s unlikely turn around which saw them preserve their top-flight status.
The 25-year old’s traist of creativity and versatility appear to have attracted a host of Premier League heavyweights including Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City. Previously, it was reported, Crystal Palace have turned around a very lucrative offer from Chelsea.
According to Metro, when Wilfred Zaha was asked about the continued speculation, the Ivory Coast International insisted,
‘I have just had my head down and it was not something I was involved in.’
‘I am with Palace and I don’t have time to think about the speculation.’ ‘It was a difficult game but we stuck by our game plan,’ he added on the opening day win. ‘We knew we couldn’t get impatient, and just had to stay in our shape and take our chances in possession. ‘We are just taking every game as it comes, the main thing is taking our chances because we have pace in our team and we can count on sides.’
Chelsea have signed Kepa Arrizbalaga, Mateo Kovacic and started the season in some style as the Blues defeated Huddersfield 3-0 in a debut game of new boss in charge, Maurizio Sarri.
Zaha, no doubt, is a skillful attacking player and has an immense potential to add further depth in Chelsea’s forward line. But, somehow, he may be an odd fit to the Chelsea squad. Maurizio Sarri, till now has become successful to keep hold of Eden Hazard and has kickstarted his era at Stamford Bridge in a stunning fashion.
