Breaking: Barcelona and PSG to take part in a shocking swap deal!

FC Barcelona has already bolstered their squad with the inclusion of players like Arturo Vidal, Malcom.

La Liga champions FC Barcelona and Ligue 1 winners Paris Sent Germain are nearing a swap deal this summer, reports AS. FC Barcelona, who have already reinforced their squad with the addition of 4 new players, want to add more into their roster, in order to scale down the impact Iniesta’s departure has made.

Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele

The end of his Barcelona career?

If their reports are to be believed, Club presidents of the Camp Nou side and Paris Sent Germain met in Madrid on Friday to discuss a possible transfer, which would see Adrien Rabiot and Ousmane Dembele switching their base this summer. According to reports, FC Barcelona is willing to let go of Ousmane Dembele, despite the player wanting to stay at the Catalan camp. FC Barcelona signed Dembele from Borussia Dortmund last season, as a replacement for Neymar Jr who went to PSG.

However, Dembele failed to live up to the billing as frequent injuries hindered his progress and forced him to stay out of action for almost 5 months. Meanwhile, recent reports suggest Adrien Rabiot has rejected PSG’s offer to further extend his contract. It has forced PSG to consider interests for this 23-year-old Central midfielder.

If things go as planned, both the La Liga giants and PSG would be aiming for a straight swap – with Rabiot joining FC Barcelona and Dembele joining PSG. This would benefit both sides as Barcelona are looking to fill the void left by Iniesta. Rabiot has impressed one and all with his performance for PSG last season and could be the man to replace Iniesta at Barcelona.

Whereas, Dembele, who is blessed with pace and dribbling ability, would add to PSG’s already lethal attack, which has Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani.

Author’s Take

This deal, if happened, would be great for all parties involved. In Rabiot, the Catalan giants have a potential replacement for their departed legend Andres Iniesta. Whereas, Dembele could rejuvenate his career at PSG. Dembele can use both his feet effectively and is lethal up front. Former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel is at the helm of PSG and he knows Dembele’s abilities well.
