Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has issued a big blow to top European suitors after committing his future at the German club.
High-quality left-backs are quite a rarity in today’s world with the top clubs boasting the best of them all. David Alaba certainly fits into that category and has just delivered a big blow to clubs that were targeting a move for him in this summer transfer window. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign a new left-back for the next season in order to compete with local rivals and champions Manchester City for the Premier League.
United was keen on bringing Alaba to Old Trafford and so was Chelsea to add competition for Marcos Alonso in that department. La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been monitoring the 25-year-old’s growth as a player and seen him turn into a formidable player over the past few seasons. The Austrian has dominated that left-hand side of the pitch making the left-back slot his own despite stiff competition from Spaniard Juan Bernat but it seems like Alaba has no urgent plans of leaving the Allianz Arena.
Alaba Pledges Loyalty-
While speaking to news outlet Bild, Alaba was asked whether there was any possibility of moving to a different club in order to win another Champions League after 11 years with the Bavarian giants, but the defender was quick to rubbish any of those rumors,” I’m staying at Bayern, I have a contract until 2021. I’m feeling very well in Munich, there’s nothing more to say about it.”
It’s no surprise that Alaba is in such high demand as he has aided Bayern to seven Bundesliga titles so far but after stating that he is happy at the Allianz Arena, I’m sure Bayern will be relieved to hear that.
