Tottenham star reveals that he is very happy at White Hart Lane despite rumors linking him to both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham has finally hit the heights that they’ve always wanted to and with a young, talented and experienced team of stars. With the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Ali, Moussa Dembele, Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertogenhen, Christian Eriksen and so many others, the other London club have somehow managed to bring out the best in everyone. But now Tottenham watch as both Real Madrid and Barcelona chase after their best players, with the lure of bigger contracts and silverware.
Bringing out the best has its consequences, especially given how well Harry Kane, Dele Ali and even Christian Eriksen are doing for Spurs, with Barcelona and Real Madrid very interested in bringing the trio to the La Liga. Especially Real Madrid, with Karim Benzema struggling to score goals while at the same time providing brilliant assists for Cristiano Ronaldo, the Los Blancos have targeted Harry Kane to replace him.
At the same time, Barcelona is very interested in bringing Christian Eriksen to the club, as a foil to replace Andres Iniesta as former Premier League star Philippe Coutinho adjusts to the team and their style of play. But the 26-year-old who signed a massive deal with the club, keeping him at Tottenham until 2020, went on to refute any claims that he was moving in the near future.
In an interview, Eriksen revealed “To be honest, I don’t think like that. You play football in the present, but you have your dreams as well. Dreaming is one thing, but you don’t know what’s realistic until you see it on the table. Right now I think most players are very satisfied being at Tottenham, and so am I.
Yes, I think so if you think about where Tottenham was when I came compared to where we are today,” he said. “Now people view us as title contenders whereas before we had to fight to get to the top four and even into the top six. We may have to build ourselves up toward winning a trophy and we are on the right path. Then we have to see if there is anything at the end.”

Tottenham sits fourth in the Premier League and any chance at a League title slipped away weeks ago with Manchester City 20 points ahead of them. However, Spurs have still qualified for the semi-finals of the FA Cup and face Chelsea in the next round and it remains the last potential piece of silverware for this side, after being knocked out of the Champions League.
Eriksen further added “I think all footballers would love to win the Premier League or the Champions League or the FA Cup. I think most people just want to win some trophies. I think it was a good feeling. We have been close in the last couple of seasons, but this season we haven’t been close at all. Nevertheless, we’ve still had a very positive season so far.”
Christian Eriksen staying would be a massive boost for the club, especially given the Denmark international’s skill and talent on the ball. While Eriksen would certainly be more than welcome anywhere he goes, Tottenham would want him to stay and build their team around the 26-year-old.
